Friday Foodspiration: Cacao Truffles

Who doesn’t have a chocolate craving occasionally? Luckily, there are healthy ways to indulge. These truffles are full of healthy fat, protein, fiber, and antioxidants.  The key is to use unprocessed cacao powder that hasn’t been stripped of its natural nutritional content.

I wrote about the many health benefits of cacao and how to pick the best chocolate in the post Is Chocolate Good For Me?

Feel like you are indulging while still nourishing your body well!

Gluten Free. Grain Free. Dairy Free. Sugar Free.

  • 1 cup Unsweetened Almond Butter

  • 1/4 cup Coconut Butter

  • 1/2 cup Swerve or Monk Fruit Sweetener

  • 1/2 cup Cacao Powder

  • 1/4 tsp Sea Salt

  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

  • 1/2 cup Almond Flour (or a little more)

  1. Cream together almond butter, coconut butter, and sweetener.

  2. Add remaining ingredients until well combined (you may need additional flour to get the dough to hold together if your nut butter is more oily than mine).

  3. Scoop out dough and form into 12 balls.

  4. Refrigerate until set (about 30 minutes). Store in airtight container in the refrigerator.

*Look for unprocessed Organic Cacao Powder for the most nutritional benefit. This is not the same as Dutch Cocoa Powder we most often see in the grocery store.  It will be found in the natural food section. I use California Gold Nutrition Organic Cacao Powder. It’s the lowest price I have found for organic. You can find my favorite Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener products on this site as well!

I share all my favorite healthy products, hacks, and lifestyle tips to optimize your body and mind in a private {FREE} Facebook group. The tribe totally rocks! I would love for you to join us there . . . PEAK WELLNESS TRIBE.
