Friday Foodspiration: Banana Protein Blondies

Fueling after a workout often has to be quick and on the go. Unfortunately, most of the bars that claim to be used for that purpose are filled with sugar and artificial ingredients that are counterproductive to the muscle recovery process.

My solution is a sweet treat that is filled with protein to fuel and satisfy anytime you want your body to recover optimally from an activity.

Despite what many people believe, bananas aren’t the best post workout recovery – and let’s knix chocolate milk as a good option as well while we are at it. The bananas in this recipe do add some natural sugar, but not too much when you look at a single serving. You get a bit of a glucose boost here and some potassium, but not too many carbs to throw off your blood sugar and cause inflammation.

There are so many options here as well to make this no added sugar, gluten free, dairy free, and even vegan. To be fair though – I get the best dense gooey blondie texture that I love using a whole egg, whey protein, and the optional collagen powder.

BUT the best part . . . my kids enjoy these too!
