Health and wellness exploded in 2017 thanks to cutting-edge scientific research. Thanks to authors skilled at breaking down hard to understand concepts I was able to find some easy to digest information.  Thus, I did a lot of reading over the past year.

I thought I would give you my favorite books that address pain, health, and healing.  The big themes you will find throughout these books are inflammation, digestion, and brain health.  So, here are my top 5 (in no particular order):

1. Younger by Dr. Sara Gottfried

This New York Times bestseller teaches us that 90% of the signs of pain and disease are caused by our lifestyle choices (wow!).  The good news is we have the capability to overcome and transform using Dr. Gottfried recommendations.  The book is built around the science of key factors that lead to accelerated aging – muscle mass, brain function, hormones, our gut, and toxic fat.  Read this book if you are ready to look and feel younger.

2. Wals Protocol Cookbook by Dr. Terry Wahls

If you are not yet familiar with Dr. Wahls, please google her TED talk to hear her amazing story.  Her own health journey inspired her to create these recipes that reduce chronic pain, fatigue, brain fog, and symptoms of various autoimmune conditions.  She offers strategies for cooking healthy on a budget, reducing food waste, and making celebratory foods without compromising health.  Explore this book if you desire to nourish your body to feel your best.

3. Heal Your Pain Now by Dr. Joe Tatta

This book presents cutting-edge science as to how the brain handles pain and how we can unlock our bodies ability to overcome chronic pain.  He offers simple solutions that really work without prescription medication or surgery.  If you or someone you love experiences chronic pain from arthritis, injury, or an autoimmune condition, this is a must-read.  It’s like a user’s manual for your body – teaching you how to heal naturally.

4. Head Strong by Dave Asprey

The founder of Bulletproof (check out the website and podcast for more information) provides tips on how to take control of your body by changing your environment.  In this book specifically, he reveals how cravings, mood, mental health, and living without inflammation is controllable.  His concepts revolve around feeding your body what it needs for optimal brain and gut health.  If you are worried about mood or memory, this is the book for you!

5. The Telomere Effect: A Revolutionary Approach to Living Younger, Healthier, Longer by Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn

A Nobel prize-winning author for the discovery of telomerase – need I say more.  But you don’t have to know what a telomere is to read this book.  Her cutting-edge research shows how lifestyle and psychological habits protect our bodies and demystified the basics of DNA.  She includes practical tips for staying younger and healthy longer. Read this book if you are ready to make lifestyle changes to fight aging and improve health.

Have you read any of these books?  Let us know in the comments.

I have to say the first three on the list are most user-friendly and break down difficult to understand concepts of how the body works and functions its best into more manageable bites.  The last two books are absolutely fascinating and include cutting-edge research, but might be harder to follow if you have less experience with anatomy and biology.

Does it all just seem too complex or do you feel there is no way you could navigate making these lifestyle changes on your own?

Not to worry – I have read the books and research and am ready to break it all down for you into bite-size pieces.  Just request a FREE no obligation Wellness Coaching Discovery Visit to learn how we can work together to tackle your big health and wellness goals in 2018.  Just click the link below . . .
